Artist Bio

My artistic journey has been a winding road, deeply influenced by my roots and the places I’ve called home. I grew up in St. Louis, spending my summers on Nantucket—a place that has always held a special pull for me. My family has been collecting art on the Island for three generations and has formed deep connections with the artist community. After studying drawing and painting at Boston University, life took me in unexpected directions. I spent thirteen years teaching elementary school in New York City. I even ventured into designing jewelry, which I sold in cities like NYC and Nantucket, as well as in Montecito, CA. Looking back, I can see how the colors and forms in my jewelry designs eventually led me back to my true passion– painting.

In 2013, I decided to return to Nantucket full-time to care for my mother, and it was then that I rediscovered my love for painting. Starting with landscapes, I soon found myself drawn to abstraction, finding it both cathartic and endlessly intriguing. Being accepted as an Artist Member of the Artists Association of Nantucket in 2014 opened a world of inspiration and learning for me. I’ve taken every opportunity to attend immersive workshops and dive deeper into the art community.

My abstract oil and acrylic pieces are my way of exploring color and form to evoke emotions and tell stories. Painting is a process of discovery – sometimes revealing, sometimes covering up, but always evolving and surprising me along the way.

My paintings are not just about what you see at first glance; they’re like maps of experiences, inspired by everything from the colors in my surroundings to memories captured in photographs. Each piece is a journey, inviting viewers to explore and find their own connections.

Now, I reside in Chicago and paint in my home studio. For me, painting is about letting go– allowing the canvas to guide me and embracing the unexpected. It’s a constant exploration of finding harmony and unity in each piece– a reflection of both my artistic vision and my personal journey.
